Smoothie Criminal

I know when it comes to smelly candles, a lot of bloggers are into their Yankee Candles. I stopped purchasing Yankee a while ago when I realised that they were pretty over-priced and the scent didn't actually last that long. I've since moved onto other brands and have been much happier and my bank account has suffered much less.

Since my parents have moved up to Newcastle, we've been visiting my Aunt more often in New Mills who happens to help out on the Smoothie Candles stand at the weekends, as well as helping with the movement of the stock (she's the Eddie Stobart of Smoothie Candles). Recently I received a candle in exchange for a quick pedicure, she even gift wrapped it for me!

While they don't have as many scent choices as Yankee (I've made some suggestions, fingers crossed for my Rhubarb candle!) they are better value and by far more potent without being sickly sweet. Despite their sugar rush style flavours, they're more fresh than anything which makes a nice change from that overly sugary smell you sometimes get with fruit scented candles.

I decided to go for Strawberry Kiwi to replace my previously robbed candle, but my god was the Watermelon candle tempting.

While I've yet to burn this candle due to cats constantly creeping around my room, I have had it on display. Even without lighting this thing my room smells fruity fresh, which makes me want to light it even less (I have this problem with a lot of candles, I don't see how I can continue to sniff at them if they're all melted and gone forever).

Smoothie candles retail at £7 each, with 13 scents to choose from they can be purchased from smoothiecandles.com.

You can also check out their Facebook page for market events if you want to have a sniff before you purchase!
