My First Kiss

*Checks the pulse on the blog*

Looks like it's still alive!

Like most other regular Joe's in the blogging world, I have a life, a career and very little time for naps now that I've become a scary adult that has to adult all over the place. So rather than go too far into depth as to why I've been gone and whether I'm going to be back on the regular, I'd much rather show you an array of pretty lipsticks that I've been swooning over for the past couple of weeks!

I want to start with the gorgeous Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick set from her adorable Christmas collection that my lovely friend Jenny got me for Christmas just gone (that was like, nearly 6 weeks ago now, time is not on my side any more). This set contains 3 miniature lipstick charms that I couldn't even bare to take out of the box for a good week, let alone use.

So perfect. Too perfect for this world.

They are a fantastic size for keeping in your make up bag for little touch ups throughout the day, but the packaging in no way suffers during the shrinking process. If anything, it makes them look even more appealing than your usual bullet of colour.

The three shades in the set consist of 'Penelope Pink', 'Bitch Perfect' and 'So Marilyn'. Of course there always has to be a red in a set of Christmas lipsticks, so I can't complain. I'm genuinely trying to get away with more red lips, especially with the new Gwen collection launching in the UK this week which consists of pretty much 70% rich red shades.

I'm one of those poor unfortunate souls that absolutely adores red lipstick, but it fucking hates me and everything I stand for.

I've never actually owned anything from Charlotte Tilbury before, so this present was extremely exciting for me. I had intended to visit the CT counter in Birmingham a few weeks before Christmas to investigate her skincare gifts, but completely forgot as I was hypnotised by the allure of MUFE actually being in a Debenhams near me (I'm sure I'll post more on this in future as MUFE is the mutt's nuts).

I'm going for a miniature shopping spree next week for my birthday so I have no doubt that I'll be visiting the stand as these colours and formulations have blown me away!

From left to right we have 'Bitch Perfect', which is actually a much pinkier pink than its neighbouring shade, 'Penelope Pink', and of course there's 'So Marilyn' on the end, looking all pretty and practically taunting me with its beauty.

If I were to pick dupes for these colours, I'd have to say Urban Decay's Revolution Lipsticks in shades 'Liar', 'Naked2' and 'F-Bomb' would be the closest in terms of colour and in quality, there's only £7.50 price difference between the two so I would consider both a lovely treat for the lips. Both brands are cruelty free as well for those wondering!

The formula is very high shine and moisturising, so no gross flaky lips over winter with these babies! They glide on beautifully, fully pigmented and rarely require a top up unless you've forgotten to apply your lip liner.

This set is actually still available on the Charlotte Tilbury website, so if you're after your own baby lippies then you can pick up a set here.

Next on my list of tasty lip shades is a Studded Kiss lipstick from the gorgeous tattooed beauty that is Kat Von D (can you tell I'm a fan?). I actually purchased an almost embarrassing amount of shades when I visited America back at the end of 2014, some were instant hits and a few left me wanting a little more from the queen of colour.

Since I last visited there have been a million billion new shades and my own tastes have changed and evolved of course. After a shitty battle getting my money back from some shady little missus selling me fake products on eBay (another thing you can probably expect a blog post on) I decided to treat myself to a little Sephora order after seeing how quickly they delivered back in November when I cried for the Mi Vida Loca Remix palette.

Oh god how I love winter and how sexy my photos turn out. Please excuse the fact that this looks like a smearing of wet poop, for a more beautiful example, please click here. As you can see, I opted for the glorious shade known as 'Piaf', named after Kat's very own beautiful toe beaned kitty.

The shade is described as a cool chocolate with purple shimmer, which I would say is a very subtle lilac. Thankfully the shimmer doesn't feel gritty like my previous endeavour with the cult shade 'Thin Lizzy', which is no doubt gorgeous, but also felt like I'd applied it to my lips with a belt sander.

These lipsticks are on the drier side, but fortunately we're experiencing lip balm weather, so it's no problem. I can understand why everyone is head over heels for the liquid lipsticks when compared to this formula, which leads me swiftly onto my final lipstick love..

Of course no lip loving post is complete with Kat's amazing Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks. These little babes are constantly selling out online and in-store, and it's no wonder why as they are beautiful in terms of packaging, formula and shades. They've seriously got it all.

The two shades pictured are the glorious 'Vampira' and the coveted 'Bow n Arrow', my lovely other half treated me to the shade 'Vampira' at Christmas and it's the closest shade to red that my pale face can genuinely rock without feeling like a creepy clown. The formula has improved leaps and bounds over the last few years as I remember receiving the shades 'Adora' and 'Lolita' in an eyeshadow set a few Christmas' ago and found them to be fantabulous, but also dry as the sahara once they'd set. While the staying power is more or less the same, I can still smoosh my lips throughout the day and not seal my mouth shut. They do tend to print a little bit when I'm cramming a burger into my face, but fortunately it's only on the food itself and not all around my chops. So these shades are literally good enough to eat.

Around two hours after my order was confirmed by Sephora, 'Bow n Arrow' sold out yet again, so it is probably the most difficult shade to get hold of considering it had already been out of stock for months previously, so if you want to get your paws on it I suggest popping your e-mail down for an alert like I did with a basket full of goodies at the ready.

These two shades sum up my lip love life at the moment, which is either nude with attitude or dark and a little scary. There is no in between. Not even in the summer.

So that pretty much sums up the lip shades and formulas that I'm currently in love with, I hope you enjoyed my somewhat lengthy comeback and I feel ready to make a (shake and irregular) return to the world of blogging.
